LMI is the first company of its class to receive ISO 9001:2000 certificate, which is a testimony to the world class standards followed and maintained at its manufacturing facilities.

Mr. Umer Farooq: Lahore Medical Instrument is an organization of well trained people with latest advanced technology that works as a team to achieve maximum output, having a strong check and balance on every decision. Working hours are quite flexible, no concept of late sitting or over time and we encourage our employees to fulfill the work well within time.

Q. 3. Do you believe that Pakistani universities are creating an effective talent pool and what is your company’s strategy to attract the best talent in Pakistan?

Mr. Umer Farooq: Well, according to my point of view, only a few Pakistani universities are producing quality individuals, but then again, it depends upon the individual that how quick learner he/she is. Our basic strategy is to provide the candidates a fast pace career growth and every possible fringe benefit.

Q. 4. Due to rough economic situation and soaring price rise, how does your company deal with keeping itself cost effective and attractive for job seekers?

Mr. Umer Farooq: We are lucky that the quality of our products has been approved by renowned multinational/national companies as well as all major government institutions. We are the leading Medical Disposables Manufacturer in Pakistan. Our company didn’t hit the economic situation and according to the current market survey, we give our employees a bit higher salary package and other benefits which makes our turnover rate almost nil. Because if the company is investing in its people, then there are 100 percent chances of employee retention and ultimately company will get a boost itself.

Mr. Umer Farooq: In my views, the basic principles of professional success are; motivation, patience, commitment and a clear goal towards life.

Mr. Umer Farooq: Human Resource department is an intermediary/ bridge between higher management and lower management, implementing rules, regulations, policies and procedures. In Pakistan, it is having a massive scope in the coming time as most organizations are now separating the concept of Admin from HR department and understanding the sole importance of HRM.

Mr. Umer Farooq: The things about a candidate that annoy me the most during a job interview are:

Mr. Umer Farooq: I did my MBA in Human Resource Management; in December 2008, from The Institute of Management Sciences (Pak – Aims) is a project of Al-Karim Educational Foundation established in Lahore in 1986 and enjoyed a wonderful educational experience over there.

Mr. Umer Farooq: I cannot explain the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure–which is: trying to please everybody makes you fall into trouble.

  1. I must compliment Mr. Umar who seem to be a thorough career-oriented executive. Although very new at work having done MBA just about 2 years ago, he has given some very touching and in depth analysis of how company’s can prosper by maintaining the motivation and interest of employees and also how individuals can polish themselves and present their credentials in a way that its a straight “buy in” by an employer who would like to hire the person instantly.
