Q. 1. What are, in your view, the basic principles of success in a professional life?
Mr. Ahmad Qureshi: The basic principles of achieving success in the professional life are very simple according to my philosophy. These basic principles are:
- Ability
- Attitude
- Self analysis
Q. 2. Tell us about your educational life?
Mr. Ahmad Qureshi: I achieved my MBA degree from the State University of New York, USA in 1988. Prior to that I got my degree in MA Economics from the University of the Punjab.
Q. 3. What makes your company an attractive employer for the jobseekers?
Mr. Ahmad Qureshi: We encourage entrepreneurship packages all over country, which enable the students in polishing their skills and prepare them for a great professional career.
Q. 4. What do you look for in a candidate during a hiring interview session? Name 4 key things?
Mr. Ahmad Qureshi: A lot of things are considered when we are interviewing a candidate for a specific job. However the four key things without which the interviewee cannot go forward are:
- Ability
- Attitude
- Self analysis
- A realistic view
Q. 5. What is the scope of Human Resource Management in Pakistan?
Mr. Ahmad Qureshi: Human resource management is a challenging forte where a lot of work needs to be done as it keeps on evolving over the years. Only recently the HR managers have shed the role of administrators and started getting actively involved in the entire management procedure.
Q. 6. What is your strategy on work-life balance and how do you achieve this balance yourself?
Mr. Ahmad Qureshi: First we have to achieve a certain level of prosperity after which we can think of things like balancing work and personal life. We are far behind these days and need to concentrate on work alone. Hard work is the only thing that will help us getting through the tough times.
Q. 7. Do you believe that Pakistani universities are creating an effective talent pool and what is your company’s strategy to attract the best talent in Pakistan?
Mr. Ahmad Qureshi: All universities are not good or bad. They are putting effort and some talented students are coming forward from these universities. We encourage hiring young entrepreneurs from all over Pakistan in our company as we do not discriminate among students of different universities.
Q. 8. What is your formula of success in life?
Mr. Ahmad Qureshi: My formula of success in life is earning money and gaining recognition through hard work and effort.
Q. 9. What are the biggest turnoffs in an interview of a job applicant?
Mr. Ahmad Qureshi: While there are many things that a candidate might do that can ruin his or her chances of succeeding in the interview, the biggest turn off for me is not understanding the company culture properly and coming to the interview without doing the proper homework.
Q. 10. Any good advice you want to give for the job seekers who want to enter and prosper in the professional field?
Mr. Ahmad Qureshi: Well done is better than well said, so stop talking and start performing.
