You should polish your skills so that you can contribute a lot to the team and create a positive image on your colleagues as well as the employer.

You should not always try to be in the leader’s position while ignoring what your team members need. Be helpful and take the time to guide and explain things so that all of the team members can be on the same page. This will help the team to perform better which will in turn improve your image.

Communicate Well:

If you have made a commitment, you need to deliver on the allocated time in order to maintain your credibility. If you think that the work is too much to be delivered within the allocated time period, do not make a commitment.

The best way is to make a schedule and allocate adequate time to each project. Getting organized can also help you a lot with time management as you do not have to waste precious time in looking for files and folders.

The hardest part for a working woman is to maintain a balance between personal and professional life. If you are unable to maintain this delicate balance, you are bound to fail at one end or the both.

Do not put all your energy into work while ignoring your personal life as it will lead you to a burn out sooner than later.

  10. I paritally agree with one of the comment about “How easy it is to survive in corporate world for women” but not completely. Its really hard but we need to be determined and have continuous process of setting the goals. The problem with women in Pakistan is not the external battle but maybe the internal one. They are not ready to take themselves and their careers seriously. They think that their only objective in life is to get married and have kids. I personally think its a great goal for any women but there should be continous process of goal settings in their lives both at personal and professional front. Alternatively, there should be some real change needed in the mindsets of Pakistani men to accept women on the senior management roles. They are really helpful when these women are working at the secretarial or lower administrative roles but when it comes to accepting women as their bosses, its really hard pill to swallow for men (I am not saying all but a majority of them). I would advise all the women to read MARY KAY ASH biography and her leadership principles and how she managed to build a company worth $3.2 Billion. Very inspiring and full of real world lessons. Happy learning.

  15. Good tips for the entry level women but there are lots of other problems faced by mid-career women e.g. Work Place Harassment, Unstructured and rigid working environments, rude responses from male colleagues , inappropriate management support etc which are needed to be addressed. Because these are one of the major issues that force women to quit jobs or switch their employers.
