Q. 1. What makes your company an attractive employer for job seekers?

Ms. Shahida Zubair: We hire candidates from around the world to work at our branch here in Malaysia. We cater to the needs of our foreign employees, especially those who have never been to Malaysia. We are also periodically updating our policies and procedures to accommodate and enhance our employees’ working environment.

Q. 2. Human Resources are the first causalities of an economic slowdown. What is your company strategy to deal with this challenge?

Ms. Shahida Zubair: We are very careful with our recruitment drives. We are also very strict with our recruitment budget to ensure that we are not overburden with excess employees during economic slowdown. We also practice employee outsourcing.

Q. 3. What do you look for in a candidate during a hiring interview session? Name 4 key things?

Ms. Shahida Zubair:

1. Ability to express him/herself

2. Be prepared for the interview session. Some candidates are at a lost to even summarizes previous job tasks

3. Show enthusiasm but not oversell him/herself

4. Should be punctual

Q. 4. Any advice you want to give for our job seekers who want to join HR field and otherwise?

Ms. Shahida Zubair: HR is not  simply about creating policies, but ability to communicate, assess, compliment, motivate, improve, mold, train, discipline, interact, serve and network with the human assets. So, those who want to be HR practitioners should be a mentor, a boss, a father, a mother, a sister, brother, friend, teacher, trainer as well as an adviser to the human resources of their organization.
